PAT Dynamic Control systems

Repair, components, refurbishment and upgrade support for PAT Dynamic Control systems

PDC systems remain a critical part of many cranes and heavy lifting machines in operation today. But as these systems age, failures become more frequent, original support becomes more limited, and downtime becomes more costly.

ELS helps owners and operators keep these systems running.

We support PAT Dynamic Control (PDC) systems with technical diagnostics, component repair, refurbishment, testing, replacement parts, and upgrade advice. Whether you need one faulty card replaced, a complete console restored, or a long-term alternative for an aging system, we provide a practical solution focused on continuity, reliability, and cost control.
ELS helps owners and operators keep these systems running.

Specialist support for legacy crane control systems

PDC technology is still widely used on a range of mobile and crawler cranes. Over the years, we have built extensive hands-on knowledge of these systems and the components around them.
That includes troubleshooting electronic faults, restoring damaged hardware, replacing worn components, and helping customers make the right decision between repair, exchange, or retrofit. ELS supports customers with both urgent breakdown situations and planned lifecycle decisions. In many cases, a full replacement is not immediately necessary. A targeted repair or refurbishment can restore performance, reduce downtime, and extend the useful life of the existing system. At the same time, we understand the limits of older technology. When repair is no longer the most reliable or economical route, we can also support the transition to a newer solution.

PDC Service

Repair, Refurbishment and Component Supply

Not every PDC issue requires full system replacement. In many cases, the problem is caused by failing cards, worn connections, degraded batteries, oxidized contacts, or damage to the console itself. This is where ELS adds value. We inspect, diagnose, repair, and test faulty PDC cards and systems, and wherever possible restore original components to working condition to reduce cost and shorten lead times. When repair is not possible or no longer economical, we can supply replacement units from stock, depending on availability and system condition. We also refurbish PDC consoles both technically and visually, including worn switches, front layers, screens, and internal communication parts. In addition, we solve recurring faults caused by aging electronics, connectors, or board-level weaknesses through targeted modifications that improve reliability and address known system issues.

How we work

A PDC system is often the heart of the crane’s control and load moment functionality. That is why our approach is structured, technical, and focused on reliability.

01

Inspection and diagnosis

We begin with a detailed inspection of the system and its components. This includes visual checks for oxidation, contamination, damage, weak connections and component fatigue. Where needed, we connect the system to diagnostic tools and software to identify faults on card level.

02

Repair and replacement

Defective or unstable parts are repaired where possible. This may include restoring contacts, component-level board work, replacing relays, fuses or batteries, and resolving known failure points. If a card cannot be repaired reliably, it can be replaced with a suitable alternative unit.

03

Data back-up and test bench validation

System data, settings and E-prom information can be backed up where applicable. After repair, the complete system is tested on our simulator or test bench. Inputs, outputs and relevant functions are verified, and testing can be documented.

04

Console finishing and final control

Where required, the console is restored both technically and cosmetically. Final assembly is followed by another functional check before shipment, so the system returns in the best possible condition.
Parts inspection and assessment

Why older PDC systems fail more often

Electronic crane systems typically age faster than the mechanical structure around them. Over time, vibration, temperature changes, humidity, contamination and electrical stress affect cards, connectors, wiring and sensors. Failures rarely stay isolated for long. A single defective card can be the first sign of wider system fatigue.

This is one of the reasons why a good technical assessment matters. Sometimes a focused repair is the right answer. In other cases, the most reliable solution is to combine repair with selective replacement, or to start preparing for a phased upgrade.
Parts inspection and assessment

When repair is no longer enough

PDC systems are proven and trusted, but they are also aging technology. OEM support for older platforms becomes more limited over time, and some new cards or original replacements are no longer readily available. That creates risk for fleets that still depend heavily on legacy systems.

ELS helps customers make that next step when needed.

If your PDC or PDC/ECIS system is showing structural fatigue, repeated failures, or has moved beyond economic repair, we can support upgrade and retrofit paths using newer WIKA-based solutions. Depending on the condition of the machine and the peripheral systems, this can range from a more basic replacement of the control core to a broader modernization of the full electronic setup.

Our goal is simple: keep your machine safe, operational and economically viable for as long as possible.
Experience with trusted technologies

Experience with trusted technologies

ELS builds on years of practical experience with systems used across the PAT, Hirschmann and WIKA landscape. That means we understand both the older technologies still in the field and the newer systems that may replace them over time.

This allows us to support customers in three ways:
  • maintaining existing PDC systems as long as it makes technical and economic sense
  • supplying and refurbishing critical components to reduce downtime
  • advising on realistic upgrade paths when legacy support becomes a risk

Applications and crane types

PDC systems are found on various crane types. Based on earlier projects and technical support cases, this includes systems used on machines such as:

AC100, AC120, AC300, AC350, AC500-1, AC500-2, AC650, AC700, CC1800-1, CC2500, CC2800 and TC2500.

If your machine is not listed, we still encourage you to contact us. System configuration, card versions and crane-specific logic can differ, and we are happy to review your setup.
